Typical forming tubes are made with a piece of sheet metal that is formed into a tube and welded. Since the tube has a large surface area, a common problem with this design is that it creates drag within the film, resulting in static.
Depending on the production environment or the product you’re running, this can cause condensation, which results in product build-up, causing dry products like powders to stick to the inside of the film. Even worse, it can decrease production speeds.
Triangle’s proprietary 16-sided forming tube design uses two pieces of 8-sided metal that are welded together to prevent this. With 16 ridges, the shape of the forming tube has a reduced surface area that helps keep the film material away from the tube, causing less friction.
